John Otott’s newest work, Flying Machines, is John Otott’s 3rd album release. If you’re keeping track, his second album “Road Trip” was under the name “John Michael” for reasons explained on his website: http://www.johnotott.com

As a pianist Johns’ personality comes through his music, as it should. There are times which are very playful, and others that are more serious and demanding of your ears.

I am a stickler for recording quality and post-production cues, I am very pleased with the quality that went into this album. The individual notes are very clear and resonate well.

In the second track “Emerald Bay”, you can hear a distinct conversation taking place between characters. This conversation gets very whimsical half way through and the scene that emerges from the notes he selected becomes very vivid.

If you are a fan of piano music to relax to, this is a definite must have for your collection. Listen to some of the tracks on the left.

As for a New Age album of work, what I would like to hear from John is a few tracks that are much longer than what is presented on this album, the longest track is 4:10. I feel like I’m at a party starting a conversation with a very interesting colorful new friend and then they are off to talk to someone else.

The depth of his creativity is just getting started.
